Chikoma Kazunga is the Executive Director of the Association. He is a Zambian national with significant experience in the development and commercialisation of power projects in Africa. He has been involved in some of the largest privately-funded renewable energy transactions in the South Africa and was part of the founding team of Cennergi, a large Independent Power Producer in South Africa. Prior to entering the power space, he worked as a consultant for McKinsey & Company out of their Johannesburg office where he served large corporations in Africa on various engagements related to strategy, operations and organisation. Chikoma has a doctorate in Environmental Sciences and Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Desnei Leaf-Camp has acquired extensive experience in the power sector where she spent over 6 years developing private power projects in Africa and over ten years working in the financing of large power projects on the continent. During this time she worked on Africa’s largest privately sponsored and developed hydropower project where she either led or was involved in several activities ranging from the management of the social and environmental impact assessment, to participating in the negotiations of critical commercial agreements required for the project to reach financial close. More recently, as head of Project Finance for a South African Independent Power Producer, she led the R7 billion financing for two wind-powered projects in South Africa. Desnei is the holder of an MBA in International Trade & Finance and an MA in International Economic Development from American University, Washington, DC.
